Theory X managers count on threat of punitive action in order to achieve desired output from the employees. Theory Y managers, motivate employees, considering them as the most important asset to the organization. They consider employees as responsible individuals and motivates them to do their work by rewards associated with the desired output. Theory Z aims at achieving employee compliance by providing him/her a sense of security, taking care of him/her both on and off the job. Sense of security may be like job security which will tend to make employee more loyal and responsible towards his/her work. Theory X will get work done faster but employees will not do well as far as job satisfaction is concerned, as this theory thinks of employees as robotic in performance of the job. Also this will need constant supervision as workers will tend to be easy when no one is around to supervise. Theory Y makes employees feel important part of the organization which leads to new ideas and creativity which in turn lead to improvement in processes as persons perform well in relaxed environment. Therefore Manager A philosophy to recruit good people in the beginning and keeping them throughout will not be so beneficial. Instead people should be recruited as and when they are required so as to keep the cost of the project within limits. Manager B philosophy of recruiting many people in the beginning to kick start the project and then releasing them when their work is done is beneficial as it tries to keep manpower cost within limits.
