Within “The Cult of True Womanhood” she writes about women and their virtues and some of their virtues and expectations I do not fully agree with. Out of Piety, Purity, Submissiveness and Domesticity, being submissive to the man makes my blood boil the most. “Submission was perhaps the most feminine virtue expected of women” even though a woman should not be expected to be lower than everyone else (Welter 235). Every woman has the voice within her to speak for herself and should not be “in gentle submission” and should stand strong (Welter 337). Domesticity also makes me angry that men believed that women were only good at “making a bed” and they used “good exercise” as a way to make the reasoning sound good (Welter 236).
