According to the Coordinated School Health Programs (CSHP) PowerPoint, there are five individual components which play a fundamental role in the aforementioned program. Each component compromises a separate goal to bring about effective health and physical education into our public schools. Additionally the CSHP, is determined to make school age children more healthy, therefore, more academically successful. Each component of the program is detailed below.
1. Family and Community Involvement

Students who have more health knowledge are less likely to participate in risky behaviors and had significantly higher scores in reading and math.
6. Physical Education
Schools which develop sequential, planned physical education programs understand the importance of physical education and the impact it has on developing minds and bodies. These programs focus on movement, physical fitness, and sports skills. The incorporation of physical education enhances the emotional and social development of students. Furthermore, research has shown physical education has a positive impact on academic learning.
7. Nutrition Services
The inclusion of nutritional services provides students with affordable and healthy food choices. This is critical for learning. Students not receiving a proper diet may lack proper nourishment, therefore, receive lower math scores, repeat a grade, visit a psychologist, and have difficulty getting along with other children. The individual programs, when combined, contribute to educating students about health and physical education. Additionally, the programs provide families with educational opportunities which serve to guide their individual needs. These needs may utilize one of the programs which is designed to nourish underprivileged children. This nutritional service will help students remain health and focused while attending school. When combined, these varying programs, help model healthy living, therefore, allowing students to grow into these modeled behaviors. Furthermore, when teachers integrate health and physical education into their curriculum, students will be exposed to a myriad of information that will help them foster improved lifestyle choices. When students, as a whole, are more aware of their choices and the impact those choices have own their health, they become front-runners within their community on what it means to be healthy.
