1.1 PERMA Assessment:
The PERMA assessment is an assessment that is a 23 questionnaire that is evaluating your elements of well-being, like emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning and achievement. It was designed to see where your strengths and weakness in character would be. I went into this assessment feeling very confident, I truly feel that I have strong character, my character is extremely important to me, I was though very surprised by order of what was my strongest point of character. The survey said that my top strength was fairness, equity and justice, as I do value these qualities, I just didn’t feel that these would be my top. I thought my top strength would be honesty, authenticity and geniuses, but this turned out to be number four on the list. Being honesty and integrity is everything to me, if I tell someone I will do something my word is like gold, and I have zero tolerance for people who are not honesty, I have always told all five of my children that if you can’t speak the truth then don’t speak at …show more content…
If we do not have a balance of our character strengths and weaknesses then it will be hard to have complete happiness and to be able to function on a happiness level (Donaldson & Dollwet, 2015). The strengths of applying character to an individual’s personal, profession or a social issue is that it creates the foundation for life-long optimal development (Park & Peterson, 2009). In the professional world a person who has strong character is usually seen as a leader, this is usually what people look for in leadership. Also if you can have a strong character as a teen then when faced with a social issue like drinking at a party it might help that teen to not go down the wrong path (Park & Peterson, 2009). I believe I have learned from these activities a couple of important things that will help me in not just my personal life but also in my career path of social work. I think the PERMA and VIA assessments should be used prior to working with clients to gain a better understanding of where that clients mind and emotions are. By participating in these assessments I have learned a lot about myself which I believe in turn will help me to better understand the people around me, which I hope will make me a better listener and communicator. I am going to try and apply what I

Looking over the directions on how to complete the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment it sounded like another psychological analysis into our minds to track the way we think (Anderson, Clifton, & Schreiner, 2006). It reminded me of a test given by major companies to a candidate for an available position to see what made you tick or find out if you would steal from them or go postal on the whole company. But to my surprise I actually learned something about myself, things that came natural to me to the point of not really paying any attention to them. According to this assessment my top strength is Strategic which does make sense to me when I started to review the results printed out on my report.…

So I guess as an entrepreneur, I am the one with no clear idea of what they are doing but determined to make it work. To me it was quite interesting to learn about my top strengths of character from the test I took this week although I am not a huge fan of such tests. The results determined as my top strengths Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence, Gratitude, Curiosity and Interest in the World, Humor and Playfulness, and Bravery and Valor. Now, this is tricky, because how could you possibly say something that sounds so good about you isn’t true.…

Happiness is something that greatly improves the quality of life in each individual. Are we truly able to control our level of happiness? If we are, then this would mean that we can control our quality of life as well. Some psychologists argue that individuals are able to control up to 40% of their happiness, while others reject this idea due to lack of evidence and other controlling factors.…

“It’s fine to celebrate success but it’s more important to heed the lessons of failure.” This quote by Bill Gates, possibly the most successful business man in the entire world, shows us just how valuable failure is in our lives. This article shows that happiness is often perceived in the wrong way by people, and therefore many people are unhappy, although they do not realize what they are doing which is causing them to not be content. Throughout Happiness is a Glass Half Empty there are examples of the writer, Oliver Burkeman, using different forms of emotion, moral values, and logic to define what happiness is and how to better focus on achieving true happiness.…

According to the the SAPA Project Emotional Assessment/Personality Test, my ‘Honesty’ score was 6 out of 9, ‘Conscientiousness’ was 6 out of 9, ‘Orderliness’ score was 6 out of 9 and ‘Industriousness’ score was 6 out of 9. These were my highest scores, however, I would not say that I think they are my greatest personality strengths. My ‘Compassion’ score was 5 out of 9 and I would have expected it to be my highest score.…

Good character, as I see it, is important not only in my life but for everyone so that the world functions smoothly. I do not like to think of myself as perfect in any way, but when it comes down to it and who I am as a person, I believe I have very good character. How I act around and treat my peers shows this quality. When meeting someone new, I am friendly, easy to get along with, and I believe their opinion is just as valuable as my own. I am also an honest and trustworthy person.…

Oliver Burkeman’s article, “Happiness is a Glass Half Empty” has an interesting take on how optimism leads to unhappiness. Burkeman opened his argument with a very strong example of the amount of failure there is in the America with GfK’s Custom Research North America, or better known as “The Museum of Failed Products”. He then went on to use Ethos, Logos, and Pathos to appeal to the reader about a more effective method of gaining happiness and value in life. His tone and use of language also tells us about the kind of audience he is addressing what he hopes to communicate to them. Overall, he fulfilled his purpose of communicating in an effective way.…

I thought the Survey of Character Strengths was an interesting survey to take. My first and second strengths were not particularly surprising to me, however my third was not what I necessarily expected it to be, but I am certainly not unhappy with it. All three strengths are values I have always admired because I have grown up watching my parents and older siblings showcase all three. I have consciously tried to emulate their example regarding these strengths and it was intriguing and encouraging to see all three show up in the survey. I was glad to see which strength showed up as my top, as kindness and generosity are especially important to me.…

Assessing positive psychology Positive psychology refers to the branch of psychology which is concerned with one’s satisfaction of one’s life. It is different from the more scientific branches of psychology because it is not concerned with the pathological aspects of psychology or with mental illness. Rather, positive psychology focuses on how ‘positive’ mental attitudes can lead to more ‘positive’ and fulfilling lives. In short, it is more about personal growth than an actual hard science.…

Zachery Roberson Virtues and Actions I participated in taking a survey created by the University of Pennsylvania to evaluate your personality on 24 different characteristics. The purpose of the questionnaire is to find which of the 24 character traits are your strengths. The survey is 240 questions long and is comprised of a series of statements, most of these statements ask how much you think the statement sounds like you, but several of them ask how other people see you. After taking the test, it listed several of my strongest character traits, the top 3 traits being perspective wisdom, self-control and self-regulation, and love of learning. When looking at the reading the description of what perspective wisdom is, I would say that it isn 't describing the correct attribute.…
