Clifton Strength Reflection Paper

Looking over the directions on how to complete the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment it sounded like another psychological analysis into our minds to track the way we think (Anderson, Clifton, & Schreiner, 2006). It reminded me of a test given by major companies to a candidate for an available position to see what made you tick or find out if you would steal from them or go postal on the whole company. But to my surprise I actually learned something about myself, things that came natural to me to the point of not really paying any attention to them.
According to this assessment my top strength is Strategic which does make sense to me when I started to review the results printed out on my report. Finding myself asking the questions what if

This again describes me completely and I think this comes from my military background and also from past experiences when I have made the wrong decision and regretted it.
Next strength on the list is Context which is described as making present decisions based upon the past and comparing it to the possible outcome of the future. At first after reading this from the report I was perplexed over this particular strength but looking back I understand why it would complement Strategic which is my first listed strength.
Next strength is Adaptability which also comes from experiences that I have gone through at different times in my life or to basically adapt with whatever presents itself. My philosophy is when something goes wrong don’t panic what is it that you can do to improve the situation and how can you not only get through it but learn from it. There have been many times in my life when people have tried to teach me their way as the only way to do a project and not be open minded. When you are open minded you have endless possibilities of completing a project making it more interesting to whoever reads it or attends it this in turn helps them to remember key points in your

My strengths would be my organizational skills and my positive attitude. My organizational skills are my greatest strength. I am capable of keeping many assignments, projects, and exams on track at the same time. I schedule my workload such that I am able to meet all deadlines on time and still have time for extracurricular activities. My other strength would be my positive attitude. I'm always ready to learn new skills and adjust my methods to become better. If I become aware of a weakness in a subject or in the way I do my work, I do my best to think positively and fix the problem. I am a strong believer in the idea that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts, a person attracts positive or negative experiences into his/her life. Therefore,…

After reading Strength Finder 2.0, I took my top five strengths assessment to learn more about myself, others around me. Surprisingly, In Strength Finder 2.0 Rath states, “One big problem is that most people are unaware of, or unable to describe, their own strengths.”(Rath, 2007, pg.13) I feel that I was aware of my personal strengths, however I was unable to describe them. My five strengths in order of most to least dominate are: competition, Strategic, Achiever, Deliberative, and command. Additionally, I must say that the test was extremely thorough, and in my case was positively accurate. Moving forward, I hope to establish greater use of my top five strengths by learning to implement them in my personal and professional life.…

Upon completing the StrengthsFinder survey, it is determined my 5 greatest strengths are the learner, achiever, competition, strategic, and relator, all of which I expected (Clifton, Anderson, & Schreiner, 2006). While reading the text I examined the various themes of different strengths, relating closely to the 5 assigned by the survey, I am impressed by how well the explanations were written in the book, Strengths Quest Second Edition. The text in correlation with the materials provided from the StrengthsFinder survey brought forth meaning and depth into finding out exactly the type of person I am.…

Finder survey my strengths are restorative, responsibility, relator, connectedness, and includer . One of the biggest strengths I utilize is my restorative strength. I work at a technical support center where my primary job is solving problems. Most people do not hesitate to come to me when they have a problem they cannot solve. In my opinion this also makes me a good listener because I am intrigued by what they are going to say. The more information I receive, the easier it is to fit the pieces together to solve the problem. I also plan on using this strength in school by focusing less on my weaknesses and more on my strengths. By doing so I will not get in my own way. I tend to over think things and this often gets me in trouble, especially when it is time to take a test (Clifton, Anderson & Schneiner, 2006). My second strength is also a weakness of mine. I…

Some of those strengths include, adapting well to new changes. I have attended two different buildings and adapted to three different class schedules --. Another strength I discovered is the passion to serve as a support to teachers and students around me. These attributes have enhanced my high school career. However, one of my weaknesses is that it takes me a good amount of time to figure things out --and organize my schedule. In my junior and senior years, I greatly improved upon this weakness due to my schedule expanding with extra curricular activities. Despite my weaknesses, I still accomplished many great things. To turn my weakness into strength will help me reach my full potential in…

For example, after taking the Strengthsquest, I found that I am good at communication and activation. Both of these I had a feeling that I was good at before, but I definitely did not have conscious knowledge of it. After I took the quiz, I realized myself using those strengths more and more. I feel that these will come in especially handy when doing group projects, because I possess those strengths, they will come in handy when working on group projects, and giving speeches especially. I can get groups started, plan meeting times, and other sorts of things that are oftentimes are slow to start. I can also help communicate ideas once projects are started, allowing me to better contribute and learn over the next four years. Being aware of these strengths has even gotten me to think about switching around my majors to be able to minor in communication, which I feel I would be good at. I have also been able to identify some of my core values while at PLU as well, such as optimism and creativity. Optimism I believe easily ties into hope, in that being optimistic that something will work can lead to strong hope that it will work. Being able to see the glass half full will help me because even if I reach challenges that I fail to meet, my optimism will help me think that there is still a high possibility of things going well, which once again…
