Written Assignment Unit 1

I guess here is where I present myself. Many people start with interests. My interests have changed in different ways throughout my life and for different reasons but ever since I remember I’ve wanted to make the world a better place and this is still valid today. I’ve had various ideas as for what I want to do professionally and I’ve gradually come to discover that my exact position and career choice don’t matter as much as my personal values, goals, and methods do. So I guess as an entrepreneur, I am the one with no clear idea of what they are doing but determined to make it work.
To me it was quite interesting to learn about my top strengths of character from the test I took this week although I am not a huge fan of such tests. The results determined as my top strengths Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence, Gratitude, Curiosity and Interest in the World, Humor and Playfulness, and Bravery and Valor. Now, this is tricky, because how could you possibly say something that sounds so good about you isn’t true. However, I do believe that more people than what seems to be generally believed have the potential to become great entrepreneurs. Furthermore, I strongly believe people can develop their skills and qualities.
Choosing to study a given field is one way to do just that.

After choosing scenario number three, I determined there was no conflict of principles or values in regards to me making the right decision. The nurse was in violation of hospital policy and in violation of HIPPA, which requires me to report the situation for patient safety. I would report what I saw to the charge nurse, instead of approaching the senior nurse and possibly having the situation become hostile. The ANA provision that mainly applies to the situation would be provision 3.1, which is the protection of the rights of privacy and confidentiality of the patient. The nurse violated this provision by looking in the chart of the patient in order to learn why the patient sought care.…

Hello Mrs. Brannen, Brooklyn is so excited to be in your class this year and starting her first year with GCA! I had a few questions I was wondering if you could answer or direct me to the person I need to speak with. I spoke with the Lead Kindergarten teacher a few weeks ago about moving Brooklyn up in math and adding her to the Latin course. The lead teacher sent Brooklyn's information over to the Advanced Learner Teacher and said she would be in contact with me but I haven't heard anything from her. Brooklyn has already completed a kindergarten curriculum, Sonlight Core A, Handwriting without tears K, Singapore Math K and Latin though a co-op.…

5.2 Locus of Control A key aspect of the Personality Theory is locus of control (LOC) introduced by Julian Rotter in the 1950s he defines Locus of Control as a person’s awareness about the core causes of their life events and therefore believes that (LOC) is a acceptance about the outcomes of an individual’s actions which are dependent on what they do (internal control orientation) or consequently on measures which are not in their control (external control orientation) however, entrepreneurial success comes from his/her own capabilities with help from support from outside influences such as his family (line 6, 18) and states that in line 41 that his brother Gary has the more entrepreneurial aspect then he, this is referenced to as an “external…

The key personality attributes that prompted Sean Gilligan’s entrepreneurial pursuits Photo 2012-12-15 07.16.21 PM The following is an essay written about me by a student at Bradford School of Management, who was tasked with profiling a local entrepreneur as part of his Business course:- “In order to understand why Sean Gilligan became an entrepreneur, there are 3 key elements that revolve around him. His personality or attributes, his background and experience and his skills, including how he learnt. In this essay, only his personal attributes will be discussed as these have been of great advantage to his career as an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship is probably best understood as a process, the constituents of which are the entrepreneur,…

The road to entrepreneurship can seem overwhelming to those without a business degree. In fact, it has been determined that the possession of a college degree does not guarantee success in the business world. Although a degree can be beneficial, the amount of successful business owners that never went to college proves that degrees are only complementary, not a perquisite for success. In truth, every entrepreneur must go through an initiation, or a rite of passage to go from wanting a business to having a business. If an entrepreneur is going to have a successful venture, starting the new business will require following a particular process from creation of vision statement, developing a product, marketing, financial analysis, and reevaluating…

During the Entrepreneurship and Innovation block course we were exposed to a number of the different strands that make up entrepreneurship, including psychology, opportunity and risk. The entrepreneur presentations, provided real world examples of the many different ways in which these strands have been successfully aggregated and used. The stories were amazing and I don’t really know how one could place a value on the personal growth taken from these as I felt fortunate to have been offered these insights. When I reflect back on the presentations, it confirms my thoughts as stated in Part 1 ‘am I an entrepreneur” as found in Appendix one, that concluded that I’m not a natural entrepreneur, but have many traits that align with those of an entrepreneur. My thinking and that of the entrepreneur are similar, opportunities for the growth or accumulation of capital are quickly recognised, pursued, seized and exploited.…
