The Alchemist Essay
Have you every wondered what it takes for you to achieve perfection? In the novel The Alchemist Santiago has certain impurities that he has to get rid of to reach his personal legend. 3 impurities Santiago has in the novel are Fear, Purity, and faith.
“The land was ruined, and I had to find some other way to earn a living. So now I’m a camel driver. But that disaster taught me to understand the word of Allah; people need not fear the unknown if they are capable of achieving what they need and want” CITATION Pau \l 1033 (Coelho). The parallel examples of humans, metal and all other thing sharing a common goal demonstrates that every element in nature are uniquely different form of a single spirit.

All things on earth can only achieve perfection if all things continuously undergo a cycle of achieving their personal legend and becoming someone more pure with a new personal legend. Santiago had to give up his flock and leave Fatima, material success and love are obstacles for Santiago achieving his personal legend. An example of someone who ignores their personal legend is the crystal merchant; she suffered regret and failed to experience the wealth and other things that the universe blesses with those who follow their personal legend.
We personally have a Personal legend that we want to achieve in life. As we can see for Santiago it wasn’t easy attempting to achieve his Personal Legend he had to go through may obstacles. 3 impurities Santiago has in the novel are Fear, Purity, and faith.
