Health care reform is part of an ongoing debate in the United States and with the recent substantial legislation the laws have forever changed. “The Affordable Care Act (ACA), officially called The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and sometimes called ObamaCare, is a US law that reforms both the healthcare and health insurance industries in America. The law increases the quality, availability, and affordability of private and public health insurance to over 44 million uninsured Americans through its many provisions which include new regulations, taxes, mandates, and subsidies” (ObamaCare Facts, 2014). With all the health care reform measures that have taken place coverage has expanded giving people the ability to see a doctor and get medical attention when in the past they couldn’t for reasons of simply not being able to afford a doctor, pre-existing conditions and not having a clear easy instructional path to setting up health insurance. I think more people in America today have the ability to see a doctor and get medical attention than ever before but with such rapid expansion come hiccup’s that are truly serious issues. The masses of people that have insurance now are experiencing longer wait time to see a doctor. They wait longer for appointments with a doctor or dentist because too many people need access to the same care at the same time which ultimately is inhibited access to care.
