When referring the advantages of a strategic alliance and the disadvantages that come along with it, it 's helpful to know what it means. A strategic alliance is a relationship formed between two or more businesses which allows each to achieve mutual objectives, where it wouldn 't be realistic for them to achieve on their own accord. The partners working in a strategic manner continue their status as separate entities, equal shares of control and benefits’ from the partnership, and the continuation of contributions made towards the alliance until it is severed. Being the most functional organizational structure, workers are grouped by departments that share similar activities such as production. Right above the workers would be the managerial positions. Having specializations narrows down the large whole, which enables one manager to monitor and supervise on a sufficient level with a “wide span of control. As we move further up the organization totem pole, we start to see the span of control diminish, where mangers will typically mange mangers.
