Is a highly discussed topic within the community. Our educators are constantly posed with the challenge of incorporating the use of technology in teaching the curriculum. The challenge does not end there. An even greater challenge is posed when you also factor the need for student growth. Researchers have differing conclusions. Many have determined an increase in the use of technology results in increased student growth scores. Others contend, the increased use of technology not only decreases student growth, it is detrimental to the overall growth of the student both academically and emotionally. This is the fundamental basis of my speech: " Do computers negatively affect Student Growth?"

Steve had it right, technology is nothing without good smart people behind it, which brings me to the negative affects that technology can have on students’ growth. These affects include, but are are not limited to; cost and maintenance, declines in students’ creativity and innovation, and increased student
