Teaching is a profession that requires many special qualities. Teaching requires compassion, determination, and the willingness to be a life long learner. These qualities are imperative in the field of teaching. I want to become a teacher because I feel every child deserves a quality education. A teacher’s job is not only to teach content but the ability to connect with each student as an individual learner and person. Building community within our classrooms helps each student feel valued. I want to touch the lives of others in the great ways that mine has been touched through exceptional educators.

I want to establish trust and become a role model for each student. I want to accomplish making my classroom into a family atmosphere where each student is comfortable. I also want to see their smile from the inside out. If I earn a smile from them, I will know I have done my job. One day I will accomplish becoming a principle of a school, and possibly become the superintendent. I have high expectations to accomplish my goals and to help my students feel the same success in reaching their goals. I want to be a great teacher that actually cares about what the students go through everyday. Teaching is a career that is always changing and boredom is never an issue. I have chosen to become a teacher because I value helping others learn. Being involved in the teacher cadet program allowed me to get a small taste of what its like to help children learn. Critical realism allows teachers to challenge students by asking them questions about taken-for-granted assumptions and topics (Benedicto, 2005). When a teacher uses the education philosophy of realism they are implementing that their teachings are certain and have a clear objective. I believe that for a child to learn to their best ability that they must be given a clear schedule and must also be told exactly what is expected of them. There should be no hidden factors between a teacher and his/her students and expectations should be specifically addressed. I hope to one day become a great teacher by using many of the educational philosophies and styles of teaching. Realism and progressivism will base my teaching strategies and help me better my students and myself. I aspire to make my classroom feel like a family and want to make everyone feel cared for. I will hold education at a high standard, while also holding my students accountable for their own success. I want to influenced student’s lives and inspire them to be the best they can
