Schools and education systems have one major job; prepare students for life in the real world. To accomplish this, schools must provide the education needed for high achievement, and teach kids organization, drive, and discipline through a strict daily schedule. In this light, we see that it is the responsibility of schools to enforce conformity to high extent, in order to teach future generations how to behave in American society.
Every day at 8:16am, the first bell rings (Source B) signaling that it is time for the day to begin. High schools all around the country run on strict bell schedules and it is the student’s responsibility to move throughout their classes and arrive on time. Setting expectations through the framework of a rigorous bell schedule teaches adolescents time management and responsibility, which they will be able to apply later in life. For example, when students go on to get a job, they will already be accommodated to a firm schedule with perpetual deadlines.
