Coastal Surgical Institute is an organization built upon the symbolic frame, as indicated in the “About CSI” section on the website: “Coastal Surgical Institute was created by local physicians who desired surgery center where their patients would receive the type of care they would want for their own families. They hand selected staff, designed a beautiful, comfortable atmosphere and launched what is now regarded as a premier ambulatory surgery center on the Central Coast.” The vision that prompted the creation of CSI continues to play a vital role in the symbolism that guides the organization. The doctors who began CSI sought to fashion a surgery center in which patients would not merely receive medical treatment, but be treated like…
Surgeons have one of the most important roles in medicine. They deal with the most extreme cases of physical health, injury or disease. The work of surgeons not only saves lives, but it also improves the quality of life for patients dealing with chronic and restrictive injuries. That's why i chose a surgeon The country's images of the Midwest and Kansas City, like flyover country, cow town and endless open prairies, the truth is that Kansas City, Missouri – the larger of two cities that bear the same name – is a major metropolitan area with a diverse population of more than 2 million people. Straddling two states and two rivers, Kansas City surprises newcomers who expect to find a homey metro area.…
Relationship management Relationship management is illustrated by ones ability to encourage others to achieve both individual goals as well as shared goals (Ealias & George, 2012). Moreover, emotionally intelligent leaders are able to impart transformational influence over a group of individuals (Sadri, 2012). Therefore, emotionally intelligent nurse leaders need to “connect with followers, communicate a sense of purpose in work and establish influential relationships with others” (Roussel et al., 2016, p.71). Obtaining buy-in from staff members and other departments is one of the most valuable skills a nurse manager can posses. Increasing pressure to improve outcomes, decrease costs, enhance patient safety, and boost the quality of care can generate a swarm of new initiatives at both the unit and organizational level.…

There is an abundance of careers in the medical field, but I have an interest in surgical technology. I am intrigued by the steps and instruments required to perform a specific surgery and the body structure of humans. My interest sparked more when my friend who is a surgical technician explained to me how it is a rewarding career because she gets to improve her patients’ lives every day and experience new things. This is the perfect career path for me because I am passionate about making a positive difference in people’s lives. On March 12th I will be a first-time student attending Concorde Career College in Miramar.…
Transformational leadership requires close relationship between leaders and their team members, and the leaders should not show their power to colleagues to keep an appropriate distance. The leaders should consider the needs and capabilities of the members individually. Mutual trust and efficient communication is necessary for the leadership (Salanova et al. 2011, p. 2257). A change in a clinical setting should be managed by both leaders’ and member’s opinion. To achieve this, leaders are required four qualities which are “idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualized consideration” (Lavoie et al. 2016, p. 583).…
Week Three Discussion Response to Goetzinger It is imperative that a leader maintain a professional relationship with staff. However, occasionally assisting at the bedside has its merits. For example, a manager who assists staff in a crisis may be perceived as caring about the plight of the staff. In addition, when a leader steps up and performs clinical care, it illustrates to staff that the leader is capable of undertaking the work they are directing the staff to accomplish (Sorbello, 2010). However, social fraternization with any subordinate staff is best avoided.…
Negativity and unhealthy work relationships within the surgery department are on the rise. The staff turnover rate has reached an all-time high. The purpose of this paper is to research if implementing a mentoring program will create a healthier work environment for the operating room nurses as well as increase nurse retention. Administration needs to be more aware of the impact the negative attitudes are having on the morale, and help to implement a more positive environment through mentoring. CentraCare uses the Compass Nursing Model which incorporates healthy working relationships.…
Patient and employee satisfaction is an essential component of a successful organization. If the patients are unhappy with their care or service they will not return; patients have a choice in where they receive healthcare. Without substantial patient flow the hospital loses revenue and eventually jobs. Patient satisfaction is absolutely necessary and priority for every nurse leader. Employees must also be satisfied with their work.…

These characteristics include commitment, engagement, passion, initiative, stewardship, belonging, fellowship and pride (Tye, 2014). Of these eight, four characteristics resonate to be ones I plan to integrate into my future nursing practice.…
With everyone having health care coverage and the ability to choose where to go for health care needs, facilities will be competing to gain the trust and respect of the public to be the most often chosen health care provider. An organization that is dedicated to putting patients and their needs first, offers the most current and precise care, focuses on prevention, has strong leadership, and is cost-effective will stand out. In clinical practice, it is expressed that leadership has a participation in clinical care that motivates the staff to provide better care (Giltinane, 2013). A leader motivates their followers to achieve their full potential by guiding, directing, and encouraging goal attainment (Merrill, 2015). There are recent evidences that consider a link between leadership and patient safety. A leadership can contribute to patient safety through processes such as enabling good work environment that helps promote ideal patient care, and building an effective and positive communication with the staff that encourage quality patient care and healthy work relationship (Wong et al., 2013). Furthermore, these changes in the work environment will have an impact in staff attitudes, behaviour and performance that…
