Summary: Interactional Leader

If I were a manager on a busy surgical unit with low patient satisfaction scores due to noise levels, I would take the approach of an interactional leader. This type of leader fosters autonomy, values and empowers members of the team (Marquis & Houston, 2015). Some strategies might include lowering lights` at a certain time, placing signs on unit and assigning a special room for team collaboration. This room would prevent medical personal from gathering around the nursing station and patient rooms. I would name this room “the chat box”.

My plan to inspire the unit would start with a mandatory meeting with staff members. During this meeting patient survey results would be shared. I would address benefits of patient rest to promote psychological
