The biggest debate that we have as parents is the right way to discipline our children. What is the right way? Is there a right way? There are many parenting styles and many opinions on how to discipline and if those styles are effective. That’s why I chose this topic to explore the styles and opinions of parents. Not only do I want to explore the opinions of the parents but also how culture and religion amongst many other things play a role in disciplining children. The four most recognized parenting styles are: authoritative, neglectful, permissive, and authoritarian. I will explain these styles and how you can identify which one you are further in this paper. (Proverbs 4:13) As mentioned in the bible you can help your child to respond positively by imitating closely three important things of God 's discipline: It is (1) loving, (2) reasonable, and (3) consistent. Lets break down the bible based discipline first is love. Effective discipline is founded on love, not anger. When faced with a particularly difficult situation, postpone discipline until you are calm and can proceed in a loving manner or approach. Another breakdown on the bible’s approach to discipline is reasonable. Endeavor to consider all the circumstances, including the child’s limitations and abilities. Get to better understanding your child. Finally, from the bible’s based discipline is consistency. If you have warned your child that a certain form of discipline will result if he misbehaves, be sure to follow through rather than letting it
