There are positive and negatives when following Lee canters assertive discipline model, some positives include the practitioner have more time to do work with the children and young people without any interruptions. Within this discipline model it should have the rules and the consequences and the practitioner should display this where the child can see them. I have seen practitioners use Lee Canters in the setting as they have classroom rules where the child should follow. If the child would not follow these rules then they will have a warning and then time taken off their break. Using Lee Canter’s assertive discipline plan it has helped children as they have a better learning experience.
