Staffing Employee Benefits

Improved Essays
During this period I've overseen, managed and observed the workload of both Staffing and Employee Benefits (EB). I've provided recommendations or workarounds on personnel actions, and solutions to decrease timelines. While, I monitored timelines and daily/weekly workload, there was a tremendous decrease and change since the beginning of the rating period. I've observed and monitored the processes for retirements, separation, USERRA and benefits related actions. With diligence, I reviewed, approved and validated legal authorities, effective dates, pay and nature of action codes on RPAs via DCPDS. The DCPDS error rate for the team may be low overall, but there were some minor errors, taking into account that we’ve been short staffed and/or new …show more content…
Additionally, I oversaw the workload of all my team members, and reviewed their work products, to get an understanding of what products or actions are being processed. On a weekly basis, I reviewed the reports to evaluate the “completed” or “pending” items. Furthermore, I assigned special projects and assignments to the GS-11 HRS when needed. To ensure that expectations were expressed clearly, I developed the objectives for both Staffing and Benefits HR Team members (GS 07-11), and to provide one standard across the board. Repeatedly, I encouraged OJT and made it a top priority. Consistently, worked on creating the USERRA tracking system, in order to track the 5 year limit for military technicians on orders, as well as the Consolidation of e-OPF process. While, I've supervised a team of great people during this period, there were some challenges with performance and conduct. As a supervisor, I believe that I had a fair share of conflict management, complaints, leave and performance issues, which was challenging, but a vital training experience. Additionally, I encouraged "team work" and "team" cohesion. Most importantly, I coached and empowered my subordinates to be great HR Specialist and to pursue continuous professional development and training, and to become "well-rounded”. Overall, I strive to become a better supervisor/leader daily and will continue to pursue and attend professional development
