“Local and regional food systems are about opportunity.” (Tom Vilsack) International food universally all over the world granting, can be precisely diverse, thus being just one reason for cultural differences, furthermore can be alike in several ways concerning numerous factors such as health, meal manners, and the chemistry itself of the different types of foods. American and Spanish foods are diverged to some extent in classifications such as the cultural groups that consume them, values of food consumption, and location. Although there are cultural differences concerning foods such as language barriers; which make communication with different cultures difficult, there are cultural similarities in the area that facilitate communication moreover, …show more content…
An example of this would be that “Spaniards believe breakfast or desayuno is the least important meal of the day, as to Americans believe that this particular meal is the most important of the day. (donquijote) This gen would be essential in the production of your exchange student to feel as at home as possible, and to drive the urge to start breaking cultural borders. Also, “cultures from Spanish speaking countries eat their lunch around 2-4pm, which for them is the most important, and largest meal of the day, compared to the American meal as dinner.” (Gomez) Spanish cultures also tend to eat their dinner very late in the day, with the meal being much smaller. As American’s, we tend to only drink a cup of coffee in the morning with our breakfast, but “for the Spanish, it is not uncommon to drink a few cups throughout the day.” …show more content…
“When it comes to Spanish foods, many products are spiced with peppers or seasonings, as American foods usually are added with sauces or salt and pepper, and are added with a side dish such as French fries or cole slaw.” (Gomez) Eating out, or fast food eating is an alternative corporate diversity in food cultures between American and Spanish. The event of eating out in American culture is an ample commonplace than that of Spanish, this is true because of the accessibility and values of food consumption between the cultures. When it comes to meals, “American’s tend to eat for necessity and convenience, on the other hand, the Spanish eat for pleasure, and tend to make a meal more of an event, not worrying too much about time or the health side of it. “
