Since immigrants arrived in the United States, there has been a clash of cultures. One example of this is the cultural clash between the Mexican and American culture. This started when Mexicans started being born in the U.S. producing the term Mexican-American. Parents of these Chicanos, another word for Mexican-American, often make them adapt only to one culture.

In the American culture, this is huge because every fourth of July they celebrate America's independence from Great Britain. Unlike the Mexican culture, the Americans do not celebrate every holiday in their culture. For instance, for one night Mexicans can visit their dead loved ones at the cemetery.
This celebration is “a happy and colorful celebration” because everyone brings someone to leave at their loved one's grave (Christensen p.1). Americans cannot make some depressed turn into a happy time like this special holiday. Thus, the Mexican culture is better due to their commitment to their holidays.
