“One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” said Neil Armstrong as he took his first step on the moon. Space exploration has been around for many years. It can help or hinder our society depending on what is achieved. Space exploration can also be expensive. Space exploration is valuable because it creates job opportunities and helpful technology for US citizens. Space exploration has created many job opportunities for US citizens. It has created over *60,000 jobs. “... the space agency employs over 60,000 people including private organizations.” 1.(Shannon Stirone, p. 3) This shows that without space exploration over 60,000 people would be unemployed and some of the smaller organizations would not even exist. Many types of technology have been *discovered due to space exploration. “The massive amount of data accumulated has reached 4.5 petabytes. That’s equivalent to completely filling 90 million four-drawer file cabinets with paper…” (Zaina Adamu, p. 2) After all that is a lot of file cabinets and the technology that stores all of that 3.information must be expensive but it is worth it. Technology runs our society today and without it the *world would be different, way different. “Hospitals, cellphone providers, businesses and organizations 4. now use this same technology to store information.” (Zaina Adamu, p. 2) Thus means that our country would not have phones or businesses or even hospitals without the use of technology from NASA and space exploration. Hospitals would not be able to hold all of the patients’ information, cell phone companies would be the same way, and businesses would not be successful without a place to store their files and keep them safe for later reference or needs.
