Technology plays a huge role in our world today. Technology in the past was used for many useful activities and proffesions. Global Hunting was built off of use of technology. The satellite technology was very important back then and can still be very resourceful nowadays. This is because it can give a rough esitmates of hurricane speed and strength, and a certain type of satelllite can be used to locate objects on the ground by detecting the types of soil.

Rough esitmates of how strong a hurricane may be is important. It is important because it can potentially save the lives of many innocent citizens. Knowing the strength of a hurrricane coming, news reporters can warn the citizens to evacuate, if needed. "Satellite survelliance does

Though it is a different type of satellite they are still important to the job of archeologists. The satellite they use is called infrared satellite imagery. This is used to locate objects on the ground. "Infrared satelitte imagery revealed detailed network of streets and housed below the surface" (source 3, paragraph 3). When researching the hidden town in Eygpt, they also discovered over 1,000 tombs, almost 17 buried pyramids and about 3,000 settlements. Without satellites they wouldn't have known this even exisited. "Within three weeks Sarah Packard found 70 sites. Without satellites, it would have taken her three and a half years" (source 3, paragraph 5). Archeologists are able to discover the hidden cities because of the different densities shown by the satellite image. "The ancient Egyptians often used mud bricks to construct buildings. Because the bricks retain water, they are denser than the surrounding ground. Infrared satellite imagery detects these differences in density, revealing buried roads, tombs, and cities" (source 3 paragraph 2). Detecting the difference in density allows them to discover what is hidden below what we can see. Who knows what else they can discover with satellite technology! Satellites don't reaveal new discoveries instantly, scientists and archeologists use advanced computer softwares to develop the images from the satellite. With the development of technology moving quickly, they may be able to tweak the satellite process. Even though we aren't there yet, satellites are still useful for discovering new items from ancient
