Social media is recognized by modern society as much more than a set of programs that enable people to virtually connect with one another regardless of how close or far apart they may be. It is a foundation that holds a high level of importance in ways beyond those that are social. Social media is also a significant tool that people operate for business, political, educational, medical, and personal purposes. Part of the reason why social media is such a common tool is because of how easy it is to access it. Whether it be in an individual’s fingertips or a given company’s desktop, using a social media website is effortless and can be done in any place that has internet connection, which is a majority of the world at this point. Despite the powerful impact social media has on internet users all over the world, it can result with disastrous or beneficial side effects depending on how one decides to utilize these websites.
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat are all unique technological applications that share one important trait with one another: They are all acknowledged as social media outlets that individuals can share their thoughts on in different ways.
