Everywhere you look, you see people staring at their phones. Most commonly, teens and children from the ages eight to eighteen. You begin to wonder what exactly are all those kids doing on their phones? What effects might those activities have on them? Usually, a teenager can be found on one of endless social media platforms, yet, surprisingly enough, it’s not all bad. With these electronic boxes attached to our hips 24/7, we have access to an immense amount of information. Teens often use this privilege to connect with friends. Whether it is meeting someone new through a common interest online, staying in touch with an old buddy that moved away, or keeping up with current pals, there is always a way to be connected to peers. Sometimes, the reason that children get into trouble online is merely because they have been given too much access on the internet than they need at their age. Young children don't have as many life experiences to safely navigate through dangers of the world wide web as a teenager or adult might. As in the real world, potential predators lurk at every turn. For someone who doesn't know better, or someone who does, this can be a very dangerous encounter. However if you safe, and or careful on the internet there is a really small chance that you might encounter one on your online endeavors. Adolescents have always put up with bullying, and now there is a new way to do that. Cyberbullying has been a new threat that has affected many. However, there are even more ways to resolve or prevent cyberbullying than real life bullying, therefore successfully avoiding this problem all together. Social MEdia is like a knife, in the wrong hands, it can hurt people, but used properly it can be used to help create something you are passionate about or supply you with certain resources. Today, teenagers and adults alike spend quite a bit of time staring at their phones or other devices.
