Today, schools are being sued because they haven’t handled social harassment by social media since students don’t attend school because of cyber harassment or if the harasser continues to harass on campus. Although there are laws and policies against bullying and harassment, it continues to be a major obstacle for staff administrators because they have not received any training whatsoever on how to deal with this delicate situation. In Madera High, there are several types of bullying and harassment activity going on between the students and it is slowly starting to become a huge issue. Madera High has no tolerance for bullying and harassment between students, even if it occurs off campus or in social media. In any case, if a bullying incident were to happen between the students outside of school grounds, such as in social media, the students can still get into trouble for violating the school’s policy for bullying and harassment. With social media, many students are aware of what’s happening around the school from rumors spreading around among students through Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat.
