According to Pew Research Center, the use of social media has steadily risen across all age groups in the past 10 years (Pew). Throughout the United States, teens and young adults face the constant innovation of social media and apps that continue to shape the way they live their lives. From an outsider perspective, social media seems to be a great way to develop interactions between kids everywhere and help them communicate with new friends and associates. However, there are many downfalls to social media that are hidden from the general observers view. For reasons that include, the lack of productivity, the false sense of friendship and reliance, combined with cyber bullying and all the negative health consequences shine a spotlight on social media and how it should be limited when it comes to usage among teenagers. Although Social Media is said to help teen productivity in their work and other jobs, it actually encourages the opposite when it comes to the right kind of productivity. Social media is intertwined in all aspects of teenagers’ lives from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, ESPN, Tumbler and multiple others, as these sites often distract and decrease the productivity of their work. According to Mashable, "You may think it 's harmless to check a tweet or respond to a personal message on Facebook, but it will take you 23 minutes to get back on track. A social media interruption occurs every 10.5 minutes on average, and people waste 41% of that time on Facebook”…
