Social Implications Of E-Commerce On Society

Social implications of e-commerce means how the invention of e-commerce has affected society as a whole since online shopping was introduced. The implications vary in the good and the bad, I will be discussing the advantages and disadvantages in this document.

Changing customers perspective
Now that online shopping and delivery has been introduced into society it provides added value to customers because it gives the public the chance to shop from all around the world and compare prices from many different companies to get the best price and the highest quality product for you. Not all of society has been able to keep track of the updates of technology and gadgets which means that not everybody can get access to online stores; this minority of people who don’t know how to use e-commerce services would usually be the older generation who either do not know how to use the online services or simply do not trust the services. Quite a lot of products can now be available online before they even come in to stock in high street stores, most of the public will use popular e-commerce sites like Amazon to pre-order their products before they are released so that they get it as fast as possible. The other things that is in constant rapid change is the prices of different products, there are so many competitors online that the prices are constantly fluctuating which is an advantage for customers because it allows them to compare various prices to find the lowest. There are price comparison sites out there which compare many different services for you to find out which is the cheapest; insurance companies send their quote prices to compare sites so that when you use an insurance comparison site like gocompare.com all the insurers quotes will be listed. Prices of things can also change based on the demand of the service or product, the more people that want a service means the higher the price could be. These can include online remote shopping which enables customers to shop at home and shop at any time which suits them best. This is especially relevant for people who can not leave their home for instance disabled people might struggle to get to the shops which means that online shopping gives them access to goods and services. These services are available for many of the supermarkets like Tesco, Asda, Morrisons and so on. There are supermarket comparison sites which allow you to insert what items you want then it will scan all the supermarkets and find the best supermarket for you then once you have payed for the goods the supermarket team will deliver it to your home. There are so many companies out there competing with each other for the best prices and not all of the companies can lower there prices so instead they create amazing deals and discounts which you simply can not find in high street
