Freud had many different layers to his philosophies, and the controversies continued even reaching into religion. Freud’s parents were Jewish, and the city of Freud’s birth was immensely Catholic. At a very young age Freud preferred science over religion, and his theories about religion developed into what most would call atheism. Freud questioned the nature of human morality, and thought of religion as a mass delusion. Kendra Cherry, Psychology Expert wrote in her article “Freud & Religion” many of Freud’s thoughts from his various works. In the world of literature Freud impacted science with his many theories, and his many essay’s and books are still available today for the early study of psychoanalyst and beyond to his controversial thoughts and theory of religion. Freud had many well known works, and one of his favorites was “The Interpretation of Dreams.” The book was written in 1900 and has become a classic in psychology. The book describes Freud’s theories about dreams and how they represent the unconscious wishes of humans. One of Freud’s most important works was written in 1905 “Three Essays on the Theory of Sexuality.” Included in this writing was his “Oedipus Theory.” This was the controversial theory that Freud based many of this views on. In 1913 Freud wrote “Totem and taboo.” This book is a collection of four essays that help the reader understand Freud’s viewpoints about religion, anthropology, and archaeology. Another book he wrote in 1927 “The Future of an Illusion” also went into detail about how he described his own ideas and how he developed those ideas about religion. This book actually suggested that religion is an illusion made up of "...certain dogmas. His last work was written in 1939 and was the most controversial of all his works ““Moses and
