Should Juveniles be tried as adults? The frequency of young kids committing horrendous crimes has been on a steady rise for the past couple of decades. This has brought up a very controversial topic that people seem to be very passionate about, trying juveniles as adults. There are people that fall both ways in the debate. Some look at it like how could they be possibly tried as adults, when they are physically incapable of thinking like one? On the other hand people state that if you can do the crime, you can do the time. I think there is positives and negatives to both sides of the debate that need to be addressed. I believe that juveniles should be tried as adults. On the proposing side they look at it as if a 'child ' has enough motive to hurt someone, then why shouldn 't they be charged like an adult? If they commit a crime the same as an adult, what makes them any different? While juveniles may be kids, they should have the ability to distinguish right from wrong, especially in extreme circumstances. Victims and the families of victims still deserve a sense of justice if one of their family members is affected or even killed by a juvenile offender. No matter the age of the criminal, the crime was still committed and this does not lessen the suffering of the victim. Juveniles tried as adult’s gives credence to the viewpoint that crime is crime and age should not factor into the punishment. Many feel that punishments for harsher crimes should not be restricted by age.…
