Children are usually seen as innocent, as they play around with others and are just balls of energy. Often seen as simply kids who have no experience in the outside world until they grow older. However, sometimes a child’s play can go wrong and can affect another’s life. When these incidents happen where a death is involved, it’s often easy for society to look at the offender as a murder who should be in prison for the rest of their life despite what age the offender may be. While juveniles committing heinous crimes should be punished, they should also be given the chance to rejoin society at an appropriate age; therefore juveniles who redeem themselves should be able to get released earlier and be able to put their life together.…
If they thought about rehabilitation maybe they could find a way to fix the juveniles criminal…
There are people who commit crimes punishable by life sentences, some are old, and some are young, very young. Juveniles over the age of fifteen should be tried as adults in the court of law. Children under the age of sixteen probably had good reason to commit serious crimes, but that doesn’t mean they are innocent, and there may be a good reason why some juveniles may have done what they did. If someone is sixteen or older, and you commit a crime, you are old enough to be held in court, and receive a trial, because they are mature enough to commit it as an act of criminal intentions. History of this case has proven to us that juveniles can be just as dangerous as adults.…
Good morning. Society is faced with an increasingly growing problem. The problem is that children and teens are committing heinous crimes at a young age. The question is, do we sentence these children and teens to incarceration for the rest of their lives, or do we instead try to rehabilitate these teens and children and find the root causes of these problems? Do we not give them a second chance and let them rot in prison, or do we rehabilitate them and help them become important members of society?…
I don’t think juveniles should be placed in adult prison. It causes to many problems for younger kids to be surrounded by negative influences while they are still developing mentally and starting to mature. It causes problems with depression and making them think that some behavior is acceptable in a society outside of the prison when it isn’t. The depression leads to acting out which causes disciplinary actions that are to serve in prison than they would be in a juvenile facility.…
Cities are shaken to their cores when juveniles commit horrible crimes and aren't given a fit punishment. One example is that when Jessica Ridgeway was murdered the killer was in charge of 18th birthday, therefore he was not charged as an adult. This is a controversial topic that many argue their point about. One reason that juveniles should be tried as adults is if they have Criminal Intent. Also just because you are younger than someone who commits the same crime does not mean you should get a different punishment for committing that crime.…
Should Juveniles Be Sentenced to Life Without Parole? When adults commit crimes, they are held accountable; but what if a teenager or child commits the same crime? On June 25, 2012, a controversy heated in the Supreme Court between the majority and 4 judges. The majority of the judges believes that it shouldn’t be mandatory for juveniles to be sentenced to life without parole when they commit a heinous crime such as murder, while the other 4 judges oppose to that, saying it should be mandatory for juveniles to be sentenced to life without parole.…
It’s a no brainer that when you do the crime, you have to pay the time. Although, what do we do when a twelve year old child beats a little girl to death? Do we still classify him as a juvenile, or should we put him to trial as an adult? This topic is a nationwide problem, and in my opinion, they should be tried as an adult, based off of their crimes. I feel that juveniles should be tried as adults based off of murder, sexual assault, or arson.…
Juveniles should not be tried as adults for it is wrong to hold adolescents, under the legal age, to adult standards. If children do not even receive the same rights as adults in the first place, it makes no sense to try them in adult court. These juveniles should have the opportunity to be rehabilitated in a positive manner, for they tend to come from troubled households and violent neighborhoods. In over half of the cases these troubled kids don’t know any different way than a life of crime when surrounded by both social and environmental factors that influence their delinquent actions. One must commemorate that juveniles are mentally underdeveloped, and still have time to innovate if their issues are dealt with precisely and accurately.…
There have been many opinions on juveniles being convicted as adults on the crimes they have committed. When it comes to some of these harsh crimes, who could not punish the individual to the fullest? It does not matter how old a person is because everyone knows the difference between right and wrong. If someone is raised differently and believes it is okay to murder another human, than they cannot just change their mindset. An individual that makes and adult decision should have the same consequences.…
The craziness about this is the saying “the punishment should fit the crime” is like saying the murder should be murdered, and the rapist should be raped. What benefit is there in killing children, saving the taxpayer money or obtain revenge there has to be a better means for criminal justice agencies in the handling of young offenders. Placing juveniles in prison with adult criminals only creates criminals, because the juvenile would then learn how to survive within the surroundings of the adult population Instead, there is a chance youth offenders are of ages 12 to 16 placed in rehabilitation for a chance to develop as productive adults. More than likely juveniles have gone through life in a poor environment, abusive home, or have been neglected they could even lack in education. Some candidates pass through the justice system, most often placed on parole or…
The first opinion seems to be correct, but only when it comes to the cases of delinquency. However, in the cases of heinous crimes there is no excuse for the juveniles, and juveniles must be undoubtedly tried as adults. In general, it is quite obvious that juvenile offenders should be treated as adults. It will help to maintain social order and teach children about inadmissibility of any crime.…
A rise in juvenile crime is becoming more and more of an issue in the present day. The only way to resolve this problem is to start sanctioning violent juveniles as adults. Juveniles should be able to be charged as adults in court because they commit violent crimes, they know the difference between right and wrong, communities would be safer, and juveniles would be deterred from committing crimes in the present and the future. Even though they are younger, juveniles are just as capable of committing the same violent crimes as adults. When they do, juveniles should receive the same sentence for committing the same crime.…
The decision of juveniles being tried as adults in the world of criminal justice has usually been an object of controversy. Some agree that an adolescent who commits a serious crime like murder deserves to be penalized exactly like an adult; while others declare that a minor should not face the same punishment as an adult. However, no matter how severe or appalling a crime may be, juveniles should not be tried as adults; the reason being that everyone should be granted the chance to learn from their mistakes. Juveniles should not be punished as adults, simply because they biologically distinct from adults. Teenagers are the midsection between children and adults.…
A huge controversy that is still up for debate is Should juveniles be prosecuted as adults? Should teens who commit crime be punished like adults or continue to get chances to make things right. Everybody make mistakes nobody’s perfect everyone has done things they wish they could take back. When you’re young you don’t know any better you tend to do things you aren’t aware of. Being young you’re going to make mistakes it’s all apart of growing up.…
