Senior year has finally arrived. The stress of all the necessities of the next 365 days is apparent but not yet overwhelming. She actively participates in all of the homecoming activities for the first time in her high school career. Although coaching issues lingers behind the scenes, she leaves everything on the volleyball court each opportunity she gets. Her mom, dad, sister, grandparents, and boyfriend make it to ever game possible. The end of fall brings the opportunity for her to lead the band as drum major, her dream since middle school. As the marching competition concludes she is handed a seventh place certificate, the best her school has ever done. Fall also introduces the final decision making process. Where will she attend college for the next four years? Her best friends were going their separate ways to Ames, Iowa City, and even Missouri. She wants to be somewhere different. A beautiful place in the center of the state, where nobody else plans on attending: Grand View University. She can’t wait to begin her journey as a Viking. Winter brings a new role for the young adult. She spends her nights and weekends looking over her second family, the wrestlers, as a manager. The love and care she shows the athletes and coaches is obvious. Her relationship with her family and boyfriend has never been better. She feels so fortunate to have such wonderful people around her. Late April allows her to try out for the cheerleading team at her new university.…
