Hostos Community College Student Analysis

This semester has been a very difficult, stressful, and challenging for me . High School can not compare the amount of stress I had to face in this fall semester at Hostos Community College. However, it is like that with many other students because making a transition is frightening and many of us find a way to run away from it. Everything in life is a challenge and it is scary as well, but for those who want to study it all starts of with college. It took me more than words to actually realize the reality that I am actually living right at this very moment because, I was not expecting so many things to fall apart, but somehow becoming whole again.
My freshmen letter reflected on me staying positive and accomplishing the impossible no matter what it takes and I knew there were going to be complicated obstacles because, that is how life is. College actually gives you the opportunity to experience being independent and responsible, but nobody is there to blame for your down falls but yourself. We are not perfect and never will be and is actually understandable to have a downfall

This semester I participated in workshops and activities, which helped me get to know my college better and familiarized my self with the campus. I also met a lot of students and engaged in many different activities with them, which I really enjoyed because, I had the opportunity to meet people and I knew that I was not the only one struggling with their classes or assignments. I also accomplished things that I though I could of never because Hostos Community College has that support system to help students with their classes and assignments, such as the College Discovery program. This semester I studied so much for my criminal justice class that I passed the midterm which is something that I am really proud of and I was able to complete my assignments for other different

When I first discovered the academic prowess and the opportunities that were offered at Montclair State University, I found myself having a feeling that this was the school for me. This gut feeling became amplified once I had done research on the Feliciano School of Business and the Montclair State Law School. For years I had envisioned myself being at an institution that values and initiates an educational and empowering environment as this would fit in well with my core academic strengths and ideals and for these reasons I am gladly seeking admission to Montclair State University. Throughout my academic career I have gained valuable insight into what my academic strengths and interests have developed into.…

At school registration, just a few weeks before the starting of school, I made the decision to make the “graduation” cliff not as horrible or terrifying. That day I made the sudden decision to sign up for some honor classes and dual credit senior classes, only being a junior. (THE CALL) I knew the upcoming year was…

For the past year, I could only provide an indefinite answer to a frequently asked question, How was your freshman year? In fact, those of us who experienced our freshman year could be addressed as “college veterans” will never initiate a conversation with regard to the past year. Perhaps they consider that the freshman year was not as consummate as they initially planned. I cannot judge my first year in college was successful or frustrating, but I feel I benefited from the meritorious experiences and practical knowledge gained from my college life. In my opinion, no matter what goals one wishes to achieve in college, whether its grade, love, health, or sense of accomplishment, one has to be prepared for both failures and…

I am currently enrolled at Schoolcraft College, where I have earned an Associate in Science and also, a Nursing Assistant Skills Certificate. For the remainder of the summer I will continue to attend Schoolcraft College, where I plan to complete two of the remaining courses for the nursing prerequisites requirements. Once classes end, I will begin the fall semester at Madonna University, where I intend to complete the remaining classes needed, in order to be considered into the program. Months into my first semester at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, I had felt a disconnection with the profession I had chosen--doctor. I felt confused and tried to work through it, convincing myself that it was the right choice.…

Semester of Learning Experiences People most always say, “ Learn from you mistakes and achievements.” I would definitely conclude that is exactly what I’ve done this first semester of college. There are many times that I wanted to simply curl into a ball because of all the newness and unfamiliarity. At times I found myself doing just that, but realizing that I needed to toughen up burst from my comfort zone. I can say sleeping through your classes never the best choice, not going just because you find it too easy, missing a class just to write a paper for another class, and differentiating between minimal and highly important status of choices.…

In the Spring of last year, it was my Junior year, one of the most critical years in high school. It’s the year that colleges look at the most, also it was the year that I was in some of the most challenging classes. Mostly honors, a lot of homework, and tests to go along with it. Studying would take me until late at night, and even on weekends, all day long. When it’s the end of the term everyone checks their grades for their report cards, and progress reports.…

The start of freshman year of high school started off rough. I had little motivation when it came to my schoolwork. After my first report card of first semester, I knew that I had to work much harder to reach my goals of going to college. By senior year, I graduated as an honors student. When starting college at Illinois State University, this freshman year was going to be different, I took initiative to work hard and made the grade that made it possible for me to apply for the Honors Program.…

The Most Energetic Year This year has easily been the most difficult year I have experienced throughout my entire education career. With the never-ending homework from U.S. history, studying and taking the ACT, and keeping up with basketball, I have been non-stop for the entire year. Even though I can say that, including this class, it was the hardest year of education, I also think I have learned the most this year. I think the text that I found most compelling was easily the movie we watched at the end of the year called The Straight Story. I know that this is a movie rather than actual literature, but I do think that I took the most lessons out of this text than any other one of this year.…

My first semester here at MSU was everything like I imagined it would be, but at the same time nothing I imagined it would be. I knew it was going to be stressful, but I was not prepared for all the stress that was to come. I did not know that I was going to stay up until 2AM every night doing homework or that I would have a 25 minute walk to my 8AM class. All in all, it has been both crazy and fun but mostly crazy. I am so relieved to be done with my first semester of college because at first I really had no idea what to expect.…
