Several studies advocate that successful managers have previously improved their self-awareness (McCarthy & Garavan, 2001). Therefore, for managers to run their business successfully, it is imperative to critically analyse if a deep self-awareness of managers will enable them to be successful and also if in being aware of them, a need to respond to change will follow, requiring them to seek continuously new knowledge or skills.
What is self-awareness?
Self-awareness mostly indicates particular and also precise understanding of one’s inner self (Manasa &Showry, 2014). Self-awareness is defined by Goleman (1998, as “the ability to recognise and understand your moods, emotions, and drives, as well as their effect on others”.
