Even though the Black Death was a devastating disease that killed a vast amount of people, with this new philosophy as its outcome, there can only be great thing coming. This philosophy, founded by those who gave up on the Catholic Church, rejects any forms of religious faith or worship (Citation), hence allowing the people to focus on better and more productive tasks in order to restore society. While growing up, Petrarch found an interest in studying classical literature, especially Roman writers such as Cicero and Virgil (Citation).
