The Church was supreme and at the center of attention. Philosophical views were not allowed. Beliefs were centered on superstitions and underpinned beliefs about ethics, the meaning life, and life after death. The Renaissance era became a time when the Pope and Church were not the most dominant institution. This lead to more people questioning the Church and becoming skeptical. “It is clear that Christianity, in both its theology and its ethics, had lost its hold on perhaps a majority of the Italian humanists” (Durant 94). The state is now in power and reformation took place. Humanism was introduced and had a great impact in the Renaissance way of life.
With both eras being huge parts of European history the Renaissance was the bridge between the dark middle ages and modern day.
