From the districts point of view, they see uniforms as being less of a distraction for students. They don’t want them to place their focus on their social appearances, and get distracted on who is wearing name brand clothing and who is dressed better. The district wants students to attend school and concentrate on their academics. Statistics show that uniforms have had a positive effect on school campuses. For instance, campuses have reported a decline in student’s tardiness, suspensions, amd disciplined referrals. There is even evidence that uniforms have increased pride and unity amongst students. A decline in violence has also been the result from uniforms, because there is no gang identifying colors incorporated into the student dress…

Students should be required to wear uniforms so that they can focus more on learning than on fashion, or on the hard decision of what to wear in the morning. Students wearing uniform cuts down bullying and improves discipline, helps promote focus, and save parents money throughout the school year. The main reason for uniforms is that they promote discipline, which in turn helps improve academic performance (Bennett). People who oppose school uniform have stated uniform requirement violates, or disregards, the right to freedom of expression, ("Fashion do or don 't?"). Some students are more worried about what clothes they’re wearing to school rather than more important things like education. If a school has uniforms then the students don’t have to take time out of their morning to figure out what they’re going to wear. Having school uniforms can also decrease bullying, because some bullies pick on the person for what they’re wearing, but since the bully is wearing the same thing then they can’t make fun of them for it. Middle school and high school students should not be forced to wear school uniforms because they cant express themselves, they cost too much money, and students lose their individuality.…

Having the uniforms for school can make all of the students feel equal. Every single student in the school is pretty much wearing the same outfit. This means that there should not be dress code violations, and where one student is in trouble for what they are wearing but the same outfit worn by other student did not get into trouble. “With uniforms, there 's no discrimination because of what you 're wearing. Everyone is united under the same style.” (Meredith G. 2014, para. 2) This quote from a Teen Ink magazine article is true because the students are all equal with school uniforms. School uniforms can also help prevent gangs and gang related activities from happening at schools, may also help improve class attendance, and can help the schools to have more belonging and pride throughout the school. Even though uniforms in school has multiple advantages, the few disadvantages really bring the idea down. The problems with having school uniforms is that they take away the freedom for students to express themselves through their own clothing. The other problem is it takes money to get all of the uniforms for all of the students. Most schools will not be able to afford the uniforms as well as some parents to. Students grow from year to year, so the more they grow, the more money that needs to be put towards a new school uniform that fits. If enough money could be brought in, school uniforms could potentially help the dress…
