Should School Uniforms Be Required Essay

School uniforms should not be a requirement for public schools. Schools should not be forcing children and teenagers to limit their expression by way of uniforms. Although there are multiple reasons that school uniforms are a good idea there are even more reasons why school uniforms are a bad idea. There are three reasons why not to have school uniforms: the prices of uniforms are unreasonable, students having to wear certain colors takes away individualism, and takes away American values. Public schools are not like private schools where the parents can afford to buy the clothes required for the children, and it would be almost impossible for the schools to pay for the uniforms.The prices of uniforms would cost anywhere from one-hundred to six-hundred dollars for enough uniforms for a school week. Even if the schools somehow bought the student’s clothes, the money would really come from increased food prices, or a required “donation” from the students. If someone finds a way where the parents do not have to pay a dime, the school would have to pay causing extra curricular activities to not have enough funds.

School uniforms would not care about the gangs around a town, the money a family has, or even how the a person show himself. School uniforms could be the start of taking away American values and the people who support it do not even know it.
