I also worked at a school-aged summer camp and a daycare that helped me to realize just how much I like working with children and watching them learn and grow. Through Duquesne, I was able to do a Practicum at a developmental, play-centered, preschool. There, I got to see intervention techniques and ways to help preschoolers prepare for kindergarten. All of these opportunities working with children helped me to gain a feel for all different kinds of children, and I realized that it was my passion to work with children, and liked how their education and learning environment was an integral part of their development.
Overall, I chose to become a school psychologist for numerous reasons. I have always enjoyed working with children of all ages and helping them learn and grow. I also have believed that advocating for children to be able to learn equally is extremely

Social was my highest by far with 52, conventional was 29, and investigative was 28. The school psychologist SDS code according to Holland was either SEI or SIE, which is a little different than what I got. My enterprising code was a mere 17, the second lowest after realistic being 8. Even though I did not score high on the enterprising portion of the SDS, I think overall my personality is pretty similar to that of a school psychologist. The SDS described that a “school psychologist often must persuade and influence others (teachers, administrators, parents) to adopt and use strategies that will benefit children. In doing so, they are guided by science and research in the field and strive to use only evidence-based practices” (Toomey, Levinson & Morrison 423). I believe that I am capable of these characteristics even though I did not score exactly perfect to reflect that of a school psychologist.
