The brain is the most fascinating and complex organ in the body. It is so powerful that we haven’t been able to map it out completely. The brain has a whole branch of science dedicated to it. Psychology is the scientific study of the mind, brain, and behavior. (Lillienfeld) The brain has the ability to receive and send signals better than any computer. We have the capability to perceive emotions because of our brain and it is really interesting how certain areas of the brain do specific things in the body. For example, how the occipital region targets visual information and the temporal lobes process auditory information. I was able to adapt and make new friends. At first it was hard to get adjusted to a new zone but my attitude has stayed positive and so most of my experiences were positive as well. It has been eye opening to meet all kinds of people and learn from our differences. My whole life I have been dedicated to what I do. I love to learn and I believe this is part of my personality. My aspiration in life is to become a doctor and specialize as an allergist/immunologist. One particular thing about this class that has had an impact on me is the quote “Knowledge is not power until it is applied” (Lin). I have gained knowledge from my school, home, and church; thankfully I have applied the material to my daily life. One thing that I learned from this class was that information can be misleading and statistics not always accurate. I have caught myself looking at magazine covers and now I realize the way they market their things. Instead of just being fooled like everyone else, I can understand the science behind advertising and the way they are thinking. This class has increased my awareness of the people around me and to study the way people act. Before taking this class, I had a mere concept of what psychology was.
