School Choice: Addressing the Education Divide
When compared to the rest of the world, the education system in the United States is lagging. When assessed against the education standards of the world, the United States doesn’t rank in the top 10 of most educated countries. Many people find this hard to believe because they know that in the United States, public schools receive government funding and are based academically on how the students perform on standardized tests. Many assume that preparing for these standardized tests will teach students the basic knowledge that they need to become successful adults. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

Every day that goes by without some type of public school reform, is a day that more and more students fall behind in terms of education. It means more schools fail, which in turn means that more communities fail.
Regardless of what side of the argument you are on, there is one simple fact that unites everyone and that fact is that public education needs to change. There needs to be revaluations and reforms to the public education system that are better suited to address the needs of all children and not just children that are lucky enough to live within a wealthy community. There needs to be a review of individual schools and the programs that they are funding. There should be equal funding for music and art programs that you would see with athletic
