“Of Religious Worship, and the Sabbath Day”.
“Living the Sabbath”
The historical context for this particular document was written by Norman Wirzba. According to an article I read, he wrote it in order to boost the clarity and understanding of both urban and rural church communities. He wanted them to practice being more loyal and accountable people of God as they learn how to keep the Sabbath Day sacred and restful. The paperback book was published in November of 2006. However; the E-Book was not published until November of 2008. Upon further research I found that there are no textual issues as this is the only version and or edition. This quiet time may come in many forms. For example, one may find rest in reading a book, taking nap or spending quality time with the family. This may vary for each individual but the key to finding rest is doing what relaxes you the most. Our practical realization of Sabbath observation is to relax on this one day because it is written in the Ten Commandments. Exodus 20:8-10 says, "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. From the very beginning of this book, he points out the importance of Sabbath rest one day a week. At first glance, I thought that Wirzba’s book was about weekly Sabbath as well. Upon further research, I found that this book is not about weekly Sabbath keeping at all. It is merely a dream or desire of Wirzba’s, in an ideal world to get people to practice Sabbath rest on other days as well. While seeking to find other days and ways to relax, Sabbath rest will definitely be practiced. Upon analyzing this document I find that the main issues being addressed are the importance of peacefully resting while honoring God’s Sabbath. The position of this document is discovering the beauty of Sabbath rest and delight. The chapter that I selected, covered many topics to include, the meaning of Sabbath, Sabbath Creation, Sabbath Freedom, Sabbath Rest and Peace and Sabbath Justice. It is arguing against the fact that some people are not practicing Sabbath
