1. Competitive opportunity of Almaty Region
Almaty region, as one of the oldest regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan (1932 formation), has a rich history and great prospects for economic development, having a number of important competitive advantages.
One of the competitive advantages is its geographical position, as Almaty Region borders the following regions of Kazakhstan: Zhambyl region in the west, Karaganda region in the north-west, East Kazakhstan region in the north-east. In the east the region borders with China (Xinjiang), in the south - with the Republic of Kyrgyzstan (Chui and Issyk-Kul regions).

Average population density of the area is 8.5 person per 1 sq. Km (republican average 6.1 person per 1 sq. km ).
• Economically Active Population is growing at a moderate rate- in 2011 947 thousand people, 899.1 thousand of which is employed.
• Within the program "Affordable Housing - 2020" were commissioned 867 thousand square meters of housing. • In 2013, implemented 10 projects worth $ 9.4 billion Tenge, which created 1339 jobs: plants of the production of soybean oil, for deep processing of corn, paints, for the production of medical devices and drugs, expanded clothing manufacture.

3. SWOT Analysis of Almaty Region
Describing the strengths of Almaty region except for a favorable geographical position as noted above, can be mentioned also an industrial-agrarian orientation of the region. Being one of the largest industrial and agricultural centers of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in 2012 GRP of Almaty region amounted to 1,382 bln Tenge which is 4.6% of GDP. In terms of GDP per capita, which amounted to 495.5 thousand Tenge, the region occupies the 15th place in the country.
