Solar energy is one of the oldest forms of energy use as our early ancestors used heat from the sun to start fires to cook food are heated rocks to provide warmth through the night. These two scenarios are both examples of solar renewable energy. You may have noticed some of your neighbors with shinny panels on top of their roof. Well your neighbors are going green and trying to get away from non-renewable energy which hurts the environment by the pollution that comes from using oil or nuclear energy. Solar along with other renewable energy should be the main source of energy in the future but their high prices may be what are slowing their progress. Solar energy use direct sunlight and transform the light source into heat or electricity for their users but this type of renewable energy also has its drawbacks. According to Destouni and Frank, “the main solar power constraints are high cost and intermittency.”(Destouni & Frank 2010 pg.5) Along with those constraints you must also live in an area that has constant sunlight for example places like Arizona would be an ideal location for solar energy because of their desert like atmosphere. Places like that would provide sunlight with limit cloud cover which will boost the heat or electric extracted from their solar panels. On the other hand states such as Washington may not be the best location to use solar panels because they often have an overcast which will limit the amount of sunlight that can penetrate through to provide…
