As a result, we remain silent about our disorders for fear that new relationships will be ended before they are given a chance to blossom. But keeping such a secret is a burden since we naturally yearn to tell of our struggles and successes to new people in our lives. And if we remain silent, we are unable to educate others in our communities about the fact that people do recover and have productive lives.
In safe environments, I will reveal my burdensome secret to feel free and educate others.

We who live in recovery have experienced both suffering and beauty. We have known pain and confusion, but we also know of the power of recovery. As a result, we have learned to be more compassionate toward others and ourselves. Through our compassion, we can reach out to others who are living with mental illnesses and encourage them to take a step toward recovery—a vibrant, colorful rose.
I am willing to share the rose of recovery with others.
