In the dramatic play ‘Journeys end’ ,Sherriff draws different scenarios in our mind about how different young soldiers (Raleigh, Stanhope & Hibbert) Have been changed by the historical World War 1.
While the play rolls on Sherriff hits the reader with suspension, by adding one of the main characters; James Raleigh. Raleigh a Strong, healthy chap just out of school ‘he is well-built, healthy-looking boy’ as the narrator said. Raleigh is an unexperienced young chap who doesn’t know the reality of war or how does it work, ‘I thought there would be an awful row here – all the time.’ (Page: 14) he says, thinking that war is a 24/7 cycle .He’s simply like all the
