When it comes to improving education is not only one thing is a lot of factors put together. Ravitch first suggestion is called “begin at the beginning” (Ravitch pg 227). Ravitch states that the future on a person's ability to learn starts since they are in their mother's belly. She states that prenatal care is very important because this prevents premature babies and helps them develop completely without complications. The second is “make high-quality early childhood education available to all children”(Ravitch pg 230). It’s important to teach children to love to learn. It’s important to motivate them to learn and all of this starts early. If a child at an early age is taught to be passionate about learning most likely they will stay be passionate when they grow up. Third, a good education consists in a combination not only of the main subjects like math and English, but also physical education and art subject that a lot of students tend to like more than subjects like math and English. At school, it can’t all be hard work for the students they need options; they need classes that they enjoy as well, to balance the scale. Fourth, Class size. “A large majority of teachers ranging from 83% in high school to 94% in elementary grades agreed that reducing class size would have a strong or very strong impact on students achievements” (Ravitch pg 242). Decreasing the classroom size is not only beneficial to the teachers, but also to the students. Students learn best when teachers can dedicate them with the time they need and teacher teach best when they don’t feel overwhelmed when they don’t have enough time to help everyone that needs help. Too many students in a classroom is unfair for both the teachers who can’t help all of his or her students and for the students who won't be getting the help needed and will most likely leave the classroom clueless.
