I agree with how the Streich shows the past and present of racial equality, he convincingly elaborates on how racial equality has become what society knows it as today. I am going to use the article to show how racial equality has changed over time and how it also has not improved by leaps and bounds. I will also use information from the source to discuss how there will be a continued struggle for racial equality.
The data is taken from reputable sources, so the charts are argued in an effective way. The only critique would be that some charts do not have all of the beginning ethnicities, they shift to more of a white vs. black scenarios. The few charts that do this do not diminish that I agree with Light about the racial equality comparisons that are made throughout the numerous sets of data. The majority of Americans (about 60%) say the country needs to continue making changes to evolving to assure racial equality makes progress or is reached. Americans believing racism is a problem continues to rise (about 50% currently). America as a whole gave police departments unfavorable ratings for treating all races equally. Also, majority of Americans agreed the confederated flag should be removed for representing racism and slavery. The wealth gap between blacks and whites reached the highest point it has been since 1989.
In this article, Pew Research Center collected data about racial equality and compared successfully how Equality has changed in the last 50 years, which is not much at all. Pew is a reliable source, and the arguments are simple data collections, so I agree with the concluded results. The data provided from Pew will be used to back up my argument on how racial equality has barely changed in recent times.
