Throughout American history, we have liberated ourselves from dictatorship of Great Britain, fought in and won many great wars, and is currently boasting to be potentially one of the greatest nation that there ever war. However, there is an important national issue we have failed to completely get rid. Relating back to the book, The Other Wes Moore, the idea of racial inequality within the treatment sector of the healthcare system is prominent. Although the idea is not addressed very often in the book, it is addressed within one of the most powerful moments, Wes Moore's father´s death. After some unusual behavior and feelings of illness set in for his father, and attempts of taking tylenol failed, he decided he would go to the hospital. At 7:00am when he arrived at the hospital, he shocked the nurses with his disoriented state as his head flopped from side to side and his eyes could barely stay open. The problem originates from people being stuck in an old mindset and not being willing to, or not knowing how to change. Education, parents as well as the media play a huge role in opinions and in shaping society as a whole. Stricter control on the media is necessary. People should not be allowed to portray black people as criminals or as racially inferior in any way on the news especially as this influences many people. Also, for TV shows, people should not be allowed to joke around with racial stereotypes to further enforce the idea in people's minds. It may seem like jokes are good for ratings, but this affects the way people subconsciously
