I do not think that we should stop trading or allowing traveling, but change the way we deal with disease. First, I believe there should be a global standard of teaching medicine to everyone. If we can print medical journals to send all over the world and have the WHO send in people to train others in poorer communities about health, there will be job education and information in the community. With more people practicing health care, they could charge slightly less across the board. Disease has no borders and I believe that the WHO, WTO, and IMF need to treat disease as some sort of security breach. If every wealthy country gave a fraction more to the WHO for prevention programs, poorer countries could have healthier citizens which would build the workforce and be good for trade and globalization as a whole. For example, the United States imports much of its fruits and vegetables from other countries due to seasonal changes not allowing the US to grow their own. Because of technology advancements and quick transportation, the US can collect shipments within hours. Currently, in the US, the FDA has very few food safety laws. Implementing new laws and developing technology to survey fresh food would greatly reduce imported food contamination in the US.
