This lack of fear somehow leads psychopath’s to have certain tendencies such as compulsive lying, violent desires, a need to manipulate, and an urge to constantly seek thrilling activities. All these characteristics increase the risk of turning someone into a murderer. Unfortunately, no one can determine whether or not someone will be a psychopath from birth, instead, the diagnosis for psychopathy can only be determined through the actions of the individual. Growing up, a child’s environment can contribute to their disease. But there are also instances when a child shows psychopathic traits even though they grow up in a loving and healthy environment. Since no one can really prevent the disease, it can be very unfortunate if a loving mother and father give birth to a baby who will grow to have an unusual lack of empathy. Although, just happening to lack empathy does not give anyone a license to brutally kill. Once a child begins to show psychopathic traits, his or her parents should take precautions and find out methods to help their child by educating them about their disease and providing them with love and therapy, so that in the future they will not pose a threat to themselves or to the rest of society. A specific example of a child who showed psychopathic traits but was able to prevent being a psychopath is a girl named Beth. When Beth was nine, she talked about how she would want to hurt and even kill her family. She told the interviewer that she would take knives from the kitchen and lie about having them.
