Alex Audie 7th 12/10/2015 The police officer who shot Ronald Johnson in October of 2014 will not be facing any charges, according to the court on Monday. After reviewing the dashcam video from an officer’s car, police claim that the officer who shot Johnson was not wrong for doing so. This learning center is the Central Head Start Office in Prince Georges County. While there, I spoke with Ms. Sandra Kee, the current program supervisor employed under Prince George’s County Public Schools in the Early Childhood Programs department. Founded in 1965, the Head Start program was part of President Lyndon Johnson's war on poverty. This federally funded program focuses on supporting low-income children in a variety of ways. I had the privilege to observe in a Capital Area Head Start program pre-kindergarten classroom. This was quite an eye-opening, and valuable learning experience because of the level of diversity that goes on in one of these classrooms. The career I am interested in is Early Learning and Development. I want to be a preschool teacher working in head start program. Some people think that children need to be at home with their families. Other people think that preschool helps children get ready for K-12 school. Since the 1960s, educational researchers have shown that kids who go to preschool do better in school and stay in school longer. Some families do not have enough money to send their children to good preschools. The U.S. needs to provide strong, free preschool education, so that every child can have the same opportunities to learn and succeed.…

I asked questions concerning the reasons they decided to place their children in a preschool program and what they expected of it. I also asked what type of activities they used to increase or promote their children’s ability to read and write. Both parents indicated that they wanted their children to be better-prepared for kindergarten. They believed that preschool would help with giving their children the proper tools to succeed. Both parents also reported that they expected to work close with the teachers and be able to assist their child’s learning.…
The teachers are capable of informing the parents and elementary school teachers on the level of learning each child is at in order to properly place them into classes. The benefits of determining how beneficial preschool is was shown in the HighScope Perry Preschool Study which followed several individuals until the age of forty. It became evident that children that went to preschool showed a better standard of living throughout their lives and tended to be successful. This expands on the idea that attending preschool is an advantage in the overall success of an individual. Thus, making preschool easily accessible to everyone regardless of the family’s social economic status is ultimately beneficial for all of…
